The National Dance Week of 2007 will be held nation-wide in the United States of America on April 20-29, 2007 this year.
Throughout the years, the basic premise of National Dance Week was maintained through the combined efforts of Alfred Terlizzi of Capezio/Ballet Makers, Bob Stern of Dance Magazine, Susan Wershing of Dance Teacher Now magazine, Tighe King of Tighe Industries/Curtain Call Costumes and Susan Epstein, formerly of Taffy's, Capezio/Ballet Makers Inc. and Cutain Call Costumes.
The Coalition for National Dance Week was formed in 1981 by a group of dance related organizations. They wanted to bring a greater recognition to the dancing world and the efforts it takes to keep this art form alive in the modern world. In 1991, the United Dance Merchants of America made a commitment to National Dance Week in order to encourage the growth of dance in America.
The National Dance Week Mission Statement states "to heighten the awareness of Dance and its contributions to our culture. Dance is good for the mind, body and spirit."
