From July 17 to 21, 2006 the world comes together in dance at Toronto's York University, for the World Dance Alliance's Global Assembly: DANCE/DiVERSITY/DiALOGUE.

York University in Toronto, Canada is proud to be the host of the 2006 World Dance Alliance: Global Assembly. This year's theme for the conference is DANCE/DiVERSITY/DiALOGUE: Bridging Communities & Cultures.

The World Dance Alliance was formed at the Hong Kong International Dance Conference in 1990. Since then, the World Dance Alliance mission and goals continue to achieve bounds of awareness in international dance and classical disciplines.

During this five-day conference, company and studio owners, dancers and arts council representativess from countries such as Argentina, China, Columbia, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Italy, Mexico, Malaysia, Netherlands and Taiwan will come together to further enhance the international dance community. There are many business and planning workshops to attend for those interested in the logistical side of promoting dance around the world, but there are also network meetings for ballet companies around the world to meet with up-and-coming prima ballerinas; numerous dance workshops in contemporary and classical dance, and also a series of youth programs.

In addition to learning and growing as a dancer, participants will also have a chance to enjoy the successful outcomes of previous conferences, as there are numerous performances by local and international dancers. While there are many featured indigenous dancers, there are over 20 contemporary and traditional ballet company performances from all over the world. There is a performance every evening featuring rotating company performances.

The Global Assembly's venue was chosen for two reasons: Toronto is said to be the most multicultural city in the world, and also York University will be celebrating the finalization of their new Fine Arts facility. The pride of the University's flourishing Fine Arts Department, the new facility will well accommodate the world conference in a new proscenium theatre and grand recital hall, high-tech lecture and seminar rooms and eight exquisite dance studios.

For more information or to purchase tickets for performances, visit the World Dance Alliance site. This event will surely enlighten dancers and broaden their artistic visions of classical dance.
