Artistic Director of The National Ballet of Canada, Karen Kaine, announced August 3, 2006 that the company has received a grant in its efforts to develop mew choreography in a studio setting. This innovative venture brought out by the New York Choreographic Institute - an affiliate of New York City Ballet - is meant to help induce creative and original work. As proven in past productions by The National Ballet of Canada, their company (led by Ms. Karen Kain) has exteme potential to use this grant to its intended capability.
