Barcelona Dance Awards!!!

Barcelona Dance Award & Dance Grand Prix 2008 - from 20th to 24th March 2008 in Barcelona (SPAIN) and in the end of June 2008 in Italy and in France


Presenting the 20th annual International Dance Competition, The Directors of Barcelona Dance Awards extends the international invitation for dancers and dance groups to present their work to compete.

The Dance Grand Prix Festival draws thousands of people year after year from all across Europe and the world. This festival features hundreds of artists performing dance, theater and music within the mystical environment of famous Spanish Art Cities, courtyards and outdoor cafes.

Promising to be an unforgettable experience, choreographers, dancers and chaperones are invited to stay at three star hotels off the coast of Spain in twin bedrooms with bathroom/shower (based on two-three people sharing a room).

Hip Hop Lecture

Moncell "Ill Kosby" Durden from Philly is lecturing on the topic of Hip Hop MOnday November 26 from 12-1pm at the Drive Dance Centre in Vancouver BC.


Viewing Moncell's documentary "Everything is Raw" which has yet to be released, this lecture will be wonderful for dancers and non dancers alike. With it's main purpose to educate, influence those in particular who teach hip hop, hire hip hop teachers and preserving dance history in general, this lecture is an opportunity to enlighten and educate to further inform yourself on hip hop dance.

Only $13 for an hour of fun and education, this lecture will be held at the Drive Dance Centre in Vancouver BC, 1839 Commercial Drive (between 2nd and 3rd) from 12noon -1pm on Monday Novmeber 26th, 2007.

LA Ballet

Marcelo Gomes not available during the Nutcracker season


Previous announcements indicated that Marcelo Gomes, principal dancer with the American Ballet Theatre, would be performing as a guest artist during the Nutcracker season with the Los Angeles Ballet. However, due to an unexpected injury, Marcelo Gomes will not be able to join the Los Angeles Ballet Company during this time.

A replace will be determined and announced shortly.

LEAD FEMALE Needed for 2 videos with Econoline Crush

OOZY, SEXY, GORGEOUS FEMALE Preferably tall with dark hair

STRONG ACTING SKILLS ARE A MUST!!! - If chosen will be asked to read for the role

Looking for up to 10 dancers

One possibly two videos for Choreographed rolls

PAID Rehersals and shoot

Gymnastics and Circus Skills are a BONUS

SPECIAL SKILLS DANCERS needed for the day of the shoot to freestyle.

*One rehearsal may be necessary

Please Come Prepared:

Bring headshot and resume!!

Be ready to learn choreography and freestyle

Trap Door Party

Vancouver based contemporary dance company, MOVE, premiers their new full-length original dance creation performed by six amazing local dancers.


At the Scotiabank Dance Centre in Vancouver BC, MOVE: the company presents the new full-length original dance creation "Trap Door Party". Josh Beamish, Artistic Director, takes a look at the idea of a utopian world in "Trap Door Party" through the eyes of six very different strangers. Featuring Scott Augustine, Amber Funk-Barton, Josh Beamish, Heather Dotto, Brenna McLaud and Peter Star, "Trap Door Party" shows a place where strangers are given the chance to leave behind everything they have ever known and to start anew.

Ballet BC's DANCEALIVE!

Ballet BC, out of Vancouver BC, shows great promise and continuance in the company's efforts to produce outstanding dance productions.


GIselle, National Ballet of Canada, wrapped up in Vancouver this weekend September 26-29th, 2007, to inaugurate Ballet BC's 2007-2008 season. Showing promise for another outstanding season, next up on Ballet BC's agenda is Elemental Brubeck, November 22-24, 2007.

A brand new drop-in facility opens on Commercial Drive in Vancouver, BC.


Drive Dance Centre opened on September 10, 2007, offering various levels up to a pre-professional basis. With the MOVE dance company calling this new drop-in dance studio home, Drive Dance Centre offers great classes from great instructors at great prices (just $13/hr).

All that Jazz

From June 22- July 1, 2007 experience a global invasion of jazz in Vancouver BC, Canada


Catch the last weekend of Jazz at the Vancouver International Jazz Festival while celebrating Canada Day as well! At these events one can find music, amazing vocals, new friends and even dance!

For over 23 years, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival has expanded the former niche genre of music within the Vancouver area but celebrating one of the first forms of popular music. For over 2 weeks now, the Vancouver International Jazz Festival has graced venues such as the Orpheum Theatre, the Centre in Vancouver for Performing Arts, Commodore Ballroom, Vancouver East Cultural Centre, Performance Works on Granville Island, The Ironworks, Western Front, and North Shore Jazz.

This weekend, experience Madeleine Peyroux, Indigo Trio, ICP Orchestra and free concerts from Denis Colin, Hot Toddy, and Michael Moore.
